Les Hôtels Littéraires act as patrons and are surrounded by numerous cultural partners: bookstores, museums, institutions, and friendly festivals, with whom they share the same passion for the transmission of culture and fine literature.
Bookstores are their first essential support to animate the cultural life of hotels: Librairie Fontaine Haussmann and Le Piéton de Paris in Paris, Librairie Élisabeth Brunet in Rouen, Hall du Livre in Nancy, and Librairie de Clermont, Librairie Mollat in Bordeaux. These collaborations allow for hosting meetings and signings while filling the shelves of the libraries.
Privileged relationships are maintained with many museums: Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen, Musée Roger Quilliot in Clermont-Ferrand, Musée de Montmartre, Musée Carnavalet, Musée Nissim de Camondo, and Musée Jacquemart-André in Paris, not to mention Musée Jean-Jacques Henner or Citéco. These partnerships enrich the wealth of our cultural events.
A lasting friendship ties us to the Jacques Doucet Literary Library, whose association Doucet Littérature is chaired by Jacques Letertre, as well as to the National Library. The hotels also collaborate with the National Opera of Nancy, the Théâtre Antoine, numerous journals (Revue des Deux Mondes, Revue Épistolaire), and the Associations of Friends of Writers: Marcel Proust, Gustave Flaubert and Guy de Maupassant, Max Jacob, Arthur Rimbaud, Robert Desnos, Alexandre Vialatte, Stendhal, Marcel Aymé, and George Sand.
As the first French hotel company to adopt this status, the Société des Hôtels Littéraires is committed to making literature accessible to as many people as possible by placing it at the heart of its establishments.
Convinced that culture is a pillar of sustainable development, we put our resources at the service of this mission. Our hotels thus become vibrant places where manuscripts, works of art, libraries, and events come together.
This approach was recognized at the Best Western Congress, with the RSE Commitment Award, rewarding our dual cultural and environmental involvement.
We believe that a hotel is much more than a place to sleep: it is an agent of change. Our hotels are vibrant spaces that reflect, support, and promote the richness of their territory. Our CSR approach extends this ambition: to welcome with care, reduce our environmental impact, and promote culture close to those who bring it to life.
We reduce our water and energy consumption through efficient equipment, precise monitoring of our usage, and raising awareness among our teams and clients. For example, since 2018, the Hôtel Littéraire Le Swann has reduced its electrical consumption by 53%. We also limit our waste production by offering bulk products and developing sorting and recycling practices.
Thanks to a responsible purchasing policy, we prioritize local food products, certified organic or eco-labeled. Our Terre de Mars cosmetic products are also certified natural, organic, vegan, and cruelty-free.
We act in favor of biodiversity by greening our spaces and supporting local initiatives through the sponsorship of beehives. We also participate in collective actions for cleaning and combating wild waste, especially around our hotels.
We strive to ensure fairness and good working conditions for everyone by adapting our spaces and equipment to facilitate the daily lives of our teams. We also support their skill development through regular training and monitor their well-being and fulfillment through discussions and an annual survey.
We collaborate with local producers to offer a selection of products from short supply chains, reflecting the expertise of our regions. Our hotels also collaborate with social inclusion structures and solidarity organizations that contribute to local dynamism.
We open our doors to diverse audiences by welcoming interns, people undergoing career change and participants in inclusive programs like Duoday. By sharing our professions, we contribute to making hospitality accessible to everyone.
We strengthen our collaborative governance thanks to an CSR committee that monitors and proposes actions. This organization, composed of hotel representatives, allows us to involve the teams in the CSR approach and to progress collectively.
